730 Computer Aided Drafting - Credit 1
In this course, students will discover
uses of the computer and its effect on the world of engineering
and design. Drafting is the language of industry and this course
will help the student who is interested in the computer and who
also wants to learn some basic drafting skills. All phases of drafting
and how these phases are affected by the computer will be discussed.
The computer is the future in all drafting and design. This course
will be advantageous for students who are thinking of pursuing a
career in the technologies or engineering fields. This is a good
basic CAD course and also meets the computer fluency requirement.
745 Pre-Engineering Drawing - Credit 1
Pre-Engineering Drawing is designed
as an elective to aid those technical and engineering prep students
interested in schools of higher learning, such as technical and
engineering colleges. Emphasis will be placed on the various methods
of drafting needed to communicate in industry, including methods
of communication and problem solving idea development. Since drafting
is the language of industry, the mastery of these techniques is
essential for success in many of the technical and engineering fields.
Four disciplines will be covered: Mechanical
Engineering, Computer Aided Drafting, Architectural Drawing and
Design, and Civil Engineering.
*746 Architectural Design I - (S) - Credit ½
This course will be a discovery process for
the student by relating the influences of the architectural features
of the past and how they have influenced the architecture of the
present. Students will be required to research, design and sketch
some simple house plans. Also, students will be required to build
a model house of an existing house design for which they have drawn
construction plans.
*747 Architectural Design II - (S) - Credit ½
Prerequisite: Architectural Design I
This course is an extension of Architectural
Design I for the student who wants to pursue this architectural
program further. More information will be given through additional
slides and photographs showing many more types of architecture,
site design and interior designs available throughout the United
States. Also more research and more advanced drafting skills will
be taught to the student so they can design their dream house of
the future.
This course is open to all students
at Winslow High School. Students are not required to have any previous
drafting experience to gain benefits from this course.
*748 Independent Study - Architectural Design - (S) - Credit
½
Prerequisite: Architectural Design II
This is an advanced course for the student
who wants to pursue further education in the field of architecture.
The format of this course will be in a true independent study style.
The student and instructor will formulate a set of goals at the
beginning of each term. The student’s grade will be based on the
successful completion of these goals.
750 Independent Study - Engineering Drafting - Credit 1
Prerequisite: Pre-Engineering Drawing
This course is designed to meet the individual
needs of the student by the student and the instructor together.
It is an advanced course in drafting and design, and maturity and
motivation are essential for the successful completion of the course.
As this course is a truly independent study course, the course that
you develop may be strictly an engineering graphics course or it
may be an architectural engineering course or an engineering problem
solving course; anything that you and the instructor come up within
reason for the high school environment.
751 Independent Study - Computer Aided Drafting - Credit 1
Prerequisite: Pre-Engineering Drawing or Computer Aided
Drafting
This course is designed for the individual needs
of the student by the student and the instructor jointly. This
will be an advanced drafting course where many new concepts in drafting
will be explored. The computer will be used extensively by using
a computer aided drafting software program to help students eliminate
the need for the use of the normal drafting board and drafting equipment.
This will be a full year course and many problem-solving activities
will be worked on.
752 Advanced Computer-Aided-Drafting and Design - Credit 1
Prerequisite: Independent Study - CAD
This course is designed for the individual
needs of the student. Advanced training in CAD as it relates to
job/engineering situations in the world of work or higher education.
754 Introductory Drafting - (S) - Credit ½
This is a semester course open to any student
who desires a short course in drafting. The course will cover all
major drafting groups such as: sketching, multi-view drawing, sectional
drawing and perspective drawings. Grading will be based on abilities,
efforts and accomplishments of the individual.
