*850 Art I - Credit 1
In Art I, the student will be exposed to the
basics in Art Education. For example, problems with texture,
shape, line, perspective, color, drawing and painting projects
(with various
media) will be covered. During the year, projects will require
the student to show his or her creative ability. The goal is
getting the students to use both their minds and motor skills
to accomplish
a project.
*855 Art II - Credit 1
Prerequisite: Art I
Art II contains projects given to the
students. Each project is open for the students to individualize
their own work. The students will work with the instructor on their
projects. Using the instructor as a mentor and resource while working
on their project. Some of the areas to be explored are creative
three-dimensional problems, painting, clay, sculpture, anatomy,
paper mache, art competitions and more.
*860 Art III - Credit 1
Prerequisite: Art II
The third year of Art is made up of
individual projects. Each project will focus on a more definite
subject. This allows the student to concentrate on a particular
medium in depth. The subject of the assignment will be approached
from a personal point of view. A contract is drawn up between the
student and the instructor. The contract is meant to be a personal
challenge in creativity, motivation and presentation. This is in
preparation for what they will experience in any form of post secondary
education. A one-person art show and a power point presentation
will be part of the requirements for this course. The one-person
show will be organized and will be held in the library at the end
of the school year. The Power Point presentation will be due the
fourth quarter.
*865 Drawing - (S) - Credit ½ (if course is available)
Prerequisite: Art I
Usually taken in conjunction with painting,
the first semester concentrates on drawing and different media available
to the student. Daily drawings and portfolios are required to be
kept by the students. A critique is held for the weekly assignment,
where both student and teacher participate.
*870 Painting - (S) - Credit ½ (if course is available)
Prerequisite: Art I
The second semester will meet the special
needs of those students who are interested in painting. Different
media will be covered: oils, acrylics, watercolors and inks. Information
concerning methods of media will be explained and executed. Compare
various periods of art and use one for a project. If time allows,
at the closing of the second semester there will be an art show
assembled in the library for the students to show their work from
both semesters.
